The Haraka Writers or, Haraka for short, are one of 6 performing arts ensembles based out of Purdue University. The Haraka Writers specialize in written and spoken word poetry. The Haraka Writers previously had never had a visual brand identity and approached me in hopes to increase the visibility of their presence on campus and in the community.

The brand identity was designed to represent the historical and cultural subject matter of their work. The logo is inspired by many of the mask artifacts that adorned the study room where the writers regularly met for writing sessions and rehearsal. The logo is hand drawn in order to pay homage to the meticulous work the members put into their writing.
